From Chengdu is the most convenient depature city to Lhasa. If you want to depature from Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou, you have to make a short time stop at Chengdu- Chengdu is the best place to see Giant Panda. So an overnight stay in Chengdu is a good idea.
Every day there is more than 5 flights from Chengdu to Lhasa from 7:30am to 2:00pm, and the planes are all Airbus A340, very comfortable ones. The flight itself is a great experience. Train to Tibet

Taking the train, is a fabulous new option, giving the opportunity to see hitherto unseen mountain scenery. With the operation of Tibet Railway from July 1st, 2006, more and more tourist have swarmed into Tibet via the great Tibet train. But during the shoulder season ( Nov.- March) is the best time take train to Tibet. But at the peak season ( May- Oct.) the Tibet Train ticket is so hard to book. b) This TTB permit just allow you travel in Lhasa area for 5days. If you will travel outside of Lhasa area, please join our 1-4 days local tour get the Tibet travel permit with English speaking guide and vans.
